What’s Ahead for Netflix in Australia and New Zealand in 2026

Netflix has outlined its 2026 content pipeline for Australia and New Zealand, showcasing a broad mix of locally developed stories alongside major international productions made in the region.
The upcoming slate covers a wide range of formats, including scripted series, feature films, unscripted programming and animation. Among the locally led titles are the final season of Heartbreak High and a new screen adaptation of My Brilliant Career, alongside projects such as Allen and Breakers, which marks Netflix’s first series to be produced in Western Australia.
In parallel, the region continues to host large scale global productions. Titles such as War Machine, Apex and The Mosquito Bowl are being produced with the support of Australian locations, crews and facilities. Additional projects, including Wonka: The Golden Ticket, Stranger Things: Tales From ’85 and the animated feature Steps, further demonstrate the breadth of production activity taking place across both Australia and New Zealand.
Beyond production, Netflix has also committed resources towards industry development, investing more than AUD10 million since 2021 in training and skills initiatives aimed at building capacity within the local screen workforce.
Taken together, the slate reflects the region’s ability to support both culturally specific storytelling and internationally scaled productions, reinforcing its position as an important contributor to the global streaming landscape.
