Paramount+ Australian Original Who The Hell Is Hamish? Wraps Filming in Queensland

Sep 10, 2026

Filming has wrapped in Queensland on Paramount+ Australian Original drama Who The Hell Is Hamish?, bringing a remarkable Australian true story one step closer to screens around the world.

The six-part series, starring Dominic Cooper and Australian actor Claire van der Boom, was filmed in Queensland with support from Screen Australia and Screen Queensland. It is set to premiere exclusively on Paramount+ globally later this year.

Inspired by the story of an audacious fraudster and the victims who eventually helped expose him, the series follows the charming and cultured Hamish, played by Cooper, as he sets his sights on recently divorced mother Bec, played by van der Boom.

As Bec begins to question gaps in his story and increasingly suspicious behaviour, her concerns uncover something much bigger: a pattern of deception spanning continents and suspected of leaving more than $70 million in its wake.

Australian talent on and off screen

The production brings together a significant line-up of Australian talent.

The series was created and written by five-time AACTA-winning Australian writer and producer Adam Zwar, whose credits include Austin and Mr Black, and directed by Jeffrey Walker, known for The Artful Dodger and Apple Cider Vinegar.

Brisbane-based Hoodlum Entertainment produces the series alongside CBS Studios.

Van der Boom is joined by an extensive Australian ensemble including Simone Kessell, William McKenna, Kate Jenkinson, Miah Madden, Marta Dusseldorp, John Howard, Remy Hii, Damien Garvey and others.

Queensland also plays an important role behind the camera, with the production drawing on the state's local cast and crew, post-production capabilities and locations.

The production received major production investment from Screen Australia and financing support from Paramount Australia and New Zealand. It was also supported by the Queensland Government through Screen Queensland's Production Attraction Strategy and Post, Digital and Visual Effects Incentive, as well as the City of Gold Coast's Screen Attraction Program.

Screen Queensland CEO Jacqui Feeney said the production is showcasing the work of Queensland's skilled cast and crew, as well as the state's post-production capabilities and diverse locations, to audiences around the world.

With production now complete, Who The Hell Is Hamish? will take an Australian story, backed by Australian creatives and production expertise, to Paramount+ audiences globally.
