Chris Hemsworth, Lily James' 'Subversion' filming in Australia for Amazon MGM

Production has begun in Queensland, Australia on Amazon MGM Studios’ Subversion, starring Chris Hemsworth, Lily James, Michael Peña, Joe Cole, Simone Kessell, Robert John Burke and David Wenham.

Filming takes place at the Gold Coast’s Village Roadshow Studios where it will make use of the water tank.

Subversion is a submarine-set thriller written by Andrew Ferguson, directed by Patrick Vollrath (7500), and produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers).

In a statement, Jacqui Feeney, Screen Queensland CEO said:

“More than 400 local cast and crew will be employed on this feature film, which will also contribute an estimated $63 million to the Queensland economy during production.”

Recent Amazon MGM Studios’ projects to film in Queensland include Balls Up, The Bluff and Voltron.

Subversion is also executive produced by Stephen Shafer and Greg Cohen for di Bonaventura Pictures and E. Bennett Walsh also executive produces.

The film is supported by the Australian Government through the Location Offset, the Queensland Government through Screen Queensland’s Production Attraction Strategy, and Local Government through the City of Gold Coast’s Screen Attraction Program.
